Sprint 3 Goals
My sprint 3 goals were to complete the character sketches and create a playable prototype for my capstone. This included adding controller support and setting up systems for QTE's.
Sprint 4 Goals
My sprint 4 goals are to have visual representations for my playable prototype QTE's instead of just having feedback in the inspector. Also, to catch up on my sketches for the games. I want to do some research on shaders in Unity to simulate a smoke effect when playing the game, but I am unsure how to implement that yet.
Sprint 3 Accomplishments
This week I worked on controller support for my capstone project and the quick time events when reaching the target area. Although the quick time events don't have a visual representation for them, I set the joystick axis to me measured in 4ths -- 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75,1. Once a player's joystick reaches one axis, that would flip a boolean attached to that number, setting it to true. Once all 4 corners of the axis are reached (i.e all 4 booleans turn to true), then the smoke ring will be instantiated.
Goals that I wasn't able to get to for this week was more character drawings and scenic sketches. I wanted to focus on getting a system set up for the QTE's before I worried about more character art.

With a more playable and consistent prototype, I was able to gauge what was needed to make the game feel more complete in each round of playing. The value meter is now being measured by set max and min variables. If the player reaches the value bar in between the target area, a QTE event will begin. With the completion of the QTE, a smoke ring will appear. The QTE isn't consistently running the way I wanted it to, so I will have to work on some bug fixes for that. Some feedback I got for the playtests was making the shapes appear after a button-press QTE, instead of having the player try to create the shapes with the hookah smoke manually. It was suggested to have the bar menu display the different QTE combo's they would have to make in order to create that shape and gain extra points.
